Scrip

What is Scrip?

Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”.  When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use Scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas, and other essentials. And with every purchase you are earning revenue for our school!

How Scrip generates revenue….

Our Scrip provider acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers.  Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount.  Our organization buys the Scrip from Scrip vendors at a discount, and resells the certificates to families like yours for full face value.  The discount~ from two to fifteen percent or more~ is our organizations revenue.

Scrip is “shopping cart fundraising”

Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything.  Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway.  Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with Scrip!  Scrip is perfect for Birthdays, Teacher Appreciation, Dinner Night Out, Travel and Holiday Shopping!!

How do you get started?

You can purchase your Scrip cards every Thursday morning from 8:30am – 9:30am in the PTA office by the Library OR you can fill out our waiver form and receive your Scrip via Kid Mail.

Art Docents

Art Docent Program kickoff meeting on 9/30 at 6pm in the gym

For those of you that are new to the school or for anyone who doesn't fully understand the program, this is not as scary as it sounds… it’s art in the class for the kids and we give the docent everything (s)he need to make it happen. It’s like “Art for Dummies”! We provide a bag with all the supplies and a binder with each month’s lesson (artist bio, fun facts and step-by-step project directions). There will be 6 lessons in all scheduled for specific months of the year. The docent and the teacher will work out a time/day that works best for them both. The kids LOVE art and the teachers love the help! Be sure to watch the Artist's Easel section to find out what your child will be working on each month. In October the kids will learn about Henri Rousseau, a self-taught (or primitive) French artist. They will be creating amazing pictures made from leaf rubbings.

Be sure to ask them about it!
