Your Child May Go to a New High School!

The Northshore School District Board of Directors has approved a recommendation to build a new high school in the north end of our district. additionally, they have approved the recommendation to change what grades attend elementary, junior high and high school.

Enrollment at the elementary and junior high school levels in the north end of the district is up more than 200 students over last year and is expected to continue growing rapidly in the future as hundreds of new homes are built. Constructing a high school, in conjunction with grade reconfiguration and boundary changes, would provide a long-term solution as that growth moves to high school. Funding for a new high school would be contingent upon a successful bond measure in February 2014 and would likely not be ready to open until fall of 2017.

The Crystal Springs PTA is hosting Superintendent Francois at our PTA General Meeting on Monday, January 14 at 6:30pm. Free childcare will be provided by Champions. Please come hear about the proposed changes, why the district believes building a new high school will ease the crowding at our elementary school, how much it will cost to build the new high school, and how parents will be involved in the process.

Here is a informational video presentation of Superintendent Francois talking about the New High School Proposal.

What is Scrip?

Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”.  When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use Scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas, and other essentials. And with every purchase you are earning revenue for our school!

How Scrip generates revenue….

Our Scrip provider acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers.  Because the Scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount.  Our organization buys the Scrip from Scrip vendors at a discount, and resells the certificates to families like yours for full face value.  The discount~ from two to fifteen percent or more~ is our organizations revenue.

Scrip is “shopping cart fundraising”

Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything.  Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway.  Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with Scrip!  Scrip is perfect for Birthdays, Teacher Appreciation, Dinner Night Out, Travel and Holiday Shopping!!

How do you get started?

You can purchase your Scrip cards every Thursday morning from 8:30am – 9:30am in the PTA office by the Library OR you can fill out our waiver form and receive your Scrip via Kid Mail.

Don’t forget to grab extra order forms for family, friends and neighbors!

If you have any questions, please contact Barb Gabriel at
